Building Compliance

by Jonathon Hill, Director, enevo Building Compliance

For me, building compliance has always been far more than just “meeting requirements.” It’s a chance for us all to deliver better, more sustainable results for clients and communities, while raising standards across the industry.

Since joining enevo in 2018, I’ve learned that the best outcomes always come from having the right mix of people involved in any given project or task. At enevo, I’m pleased to say our Building Compliance team has a great balance of skills, experience and approach. Our team goes beyond simple compliance and look for ways to unlock greater value, efficiency, and resilience in every project. That culture of expertise and drive is at the core of our success.

Each team member brings their own specialist skillset and perspective. Together, we cover the full breadth of compliance needs, guiding clients through complex challenges with clarity, practical advice, and real technical know-how.

Here are just a few of the experts in the team that I’m proud to work alongside:

Harry Hinchliffe – Associate Director, Building Compliance

Harry is the anchor of our compliance division. With more than five years at enevo and deep expertise in BREEAM, SKA, and Whole Life Carbon, he oversees our largest, most complex sustainability schemes. He’s delivered hundreds of assessments, covering everything from regulatory changes to high-value client consultations.

Harry’s recommendation to all clients is to consider early, proactive engagement.
“There’s nothing worse than being asked to complete SAP calculations at the end of a project. If you want success, bring us in at the start.”

Clients trust Harry to make sense of shifting standards and deliver assessments that are not just thorough, but truly move projects forward. His technical authority and calm leadership set the tone for our entire team.

Rebecca Adams – BREEAM Assessor and Whole Life Carbon Specialist

Rebecca is our go-to for sustainability analysis. In less than a year, she’s made a mark with her expertise in BREEAM and Whole Life Carbon, building on four years of industry experience and a portfolio spanning medical, industrial, retail, and hospitality sites.

She combines data-driven rigour with creative problem-solving, always looking for ways to help clients hit ambitious sustainability targets.
“We can guide clients into achieving their sustainability goals, whether they know exactly what’s needed or just want to understand the benchmarks.”

Rebecca excels at interpreting frameworks like RICS and GLA, and her hands-on approach means clients benefit from practical, actionable insights at every stage.

Ali Morgan – Building Physics Engineer

Ali is our technical specialist in building performance. With a first-class mechanical engineering degree, CIBSE Associate status, and an IEng qualification, he covers commercial EPCs, overheating risk, operational energy, PSI value calculations, and heat loss analysis.

His approach is unashamedly analytical:
“I bring a data-driven approach to compliance, helping clients reduce risks and add value right from the start.”

Ali’s detailed modelling and deep knowledge of regulations like Part B, O, and F ensure projects stay ahead of compliance shifts and deliver measurable performance improvements.

Joe Mountain – Sustainability Consultant

Joe’s technical background in SAP auditing and compliance advice sets him apart. With three years at enevo, he’s known for his sharp eye for detail, especially when working on energy and sustainability statements for complex sites.

“The level of trust from management to lead projects and manage our own workload makes a real difference. We become invested in every project’s success.”

Joe’s calculations and guidance help clients maximise energy savings and compliance, from concept to completion. His calm, considered advice gives clients the confidence to make smart, cost-effective decisions at every stage.

Tom Gibson – Sustainability Consultant

Tom has over a decade in energy efficiency and compliance, and it shows. He specialises in integrating compliance into project planning, whether for a one-off self-build or a national housing scheme. With a background in construction management and hands-on experience supporting energy assessors, Tom helps clients avoid the pitfalls of late compliance decisions.

His practical advice:
“Sort compliance as early as you possibly can. Don’t wait until construction has started – have clear goals and set out how you’re going to build.”

Tom’s proactive communication and technical precision keep projects on track, in budget, and fully compliant, no matter how fast regulations evolve.

Matthew Carrick – SAP & BREEAM Assessor

Matthew is the future of building compliance at enevo. He joined us from Leeds Beckett University and has quickly established himself as a reliable SAP and BREEAM assessor across commercial and residential schemes.

He keeps things simple for clients: “Be prepared to go above and beyond.”

Matthew’s adaptability, attention to detail, and readiness to tackle new regulations make him a vital asset to both our team and our clients.

Sam Millard – Energy Consultant, Air Permeability & Acoustic Engineer

Sam brings practical, site-based expertise to our compliance team, specialising in air permeability and sound insulation testing, ventilation checks, and SAP calculations. With almost four years at enevo, his background working on building sites gives him a rare insight into what really works on the ground.

Sam is known for his approachable style and hands-on support: “We send out a step-by-step checklist with every booking, and we’re always happy to advise on site if clients need extra support.”

He values the uniquely supportive culture at enevo, where everyone is ready to help – making a real difference for both clients and colleagues.

Mantas Adomaitis – Senior Building Physics Engineer (MEng, BEng)

Mantas joined enevo 15 months ago, bringing experience from high-rise and modular projects both in the UK and internationally. His expertise covers technical assessments such as thermal modelling, Part L and O compliance, and condensation risk analysis.

Mantas helps clients stay ahead of new standards by embedding compliance from the design phase:
“Engage a specialist as early as possible – integrating compliance into the design is always more effective and cost-efficient than treating it as an afterthought.”

He thrives in a team where genuine collaboration and attention to detail drive better results for clients.
