Developed by the Building Research Establishment (BRE) in the UK, BREEAM provides a framework to measure a building's sustainability performance across several categories, including energy, water, health and well-being, pollution, transportation, materials, waste, ecology, and management processes.

Transport

Pollution

BREEAM Assessment Process

During the assessment process, each category is subdivided into a range of issues which promotes the use of new benchmarks, aims and targets.

When a target is reached, credits are awarded, then once the development has been fully assessed, depending upon the total number of credits awarded, a final performance rating is achieved.

A BREEAM Advisory Professional (BREEAM AP) is a qualified expert with in-depth knowledge of BREEAM standards and assessment processes. Engaging a BREEAM AP from the early design stages can help your project gain up to three additional credits, enhancing its overall BREEAM rating.
